Miss Georgia Peach

This past year I have been researching the cultural history of the “Georgia peach.” Advertising and product labels present fascinating windows into the complex roles of gender and sexuality tied up with this cultural icon. Peaches become women and women become peaches during the early and mid-twentieth century.
This label for “Miss Georgia” brand canned peaches out of Zebulon, Georgia got away from me on eBay! In pursuit of my research, I have inadvertently become a “collector,” but the real collectors frequently outstrip my research budget.
If you collect Georgia Peach labels and postcards, I would love to connect with you through this blog! Please leave a comment for me below.
