Unarchived Histories coverUnarchived Histories: The “Mad” and the “Trifling” in the Colonial and Postcolonial World is now out!  Published by Routledge it is the latest in the series edited by Gyan Pandey, Intersections: Colonial and Postcolonial Histories.

Though it may seem a surprising collection to find an essay on Mary E. Hutchinson – a mid-twentieth-century white Southern woman artist – my essay “A Death Without Cause: Mary E. Hutchinson’s Unarchived Life in Certified Death” is included.  While I would never have thought my work on Hutchinson might find a perfect fit in a postcolonial series, the questions I ask about her marginalized life and the methods I use to explore it resonate with the other essays in the collection.
