Mary E. Hutchinson on Antiques Roadshow

November 17, 2015 § 3 Comments

One of Mary E. Hutchinson’s paintings from the 1930s showed up on Antiques Roadshow last night!  According to the owner, it is a portrait of her husband’s aunt named Lola who worked as a cigarette girl at the Copacabana.

I can’t wait to learn more about the family stories associated with this painting!

    Jae,
I just saw Mary Hutchinson’s portrait of “Lola” on Antique Roadshow. Did you see the show? I wondered if you heard the comments the owner made while they were discussing the portrait? I took a couple of pictures of the portrait to show my wife since she is studying painting under Tom Edgerton here in Greensboro, NC. I thought the pose was very unique.

I have discovered her exhibition of paintings in 1934 at Midtown Galleries in excellent condition. Happy to send you an image

Hello, I may have acquired a painting by Hutchenson recently. Did she ever sign work with just Elizabeth Hutchenson? I would like to send you images of it!
    Look forward to your response.
    Zach
